The Loner Pinot Noir Case Of 6
Blending the Maude Pinot Noir is one of our favourite and most important tasks. Each year, the magical blend from the Poison Creek and Mohawk Hill vineyards changes. Maintaining the pedigree of our Maude Pinot Noir is absolutely critical; but achieving this requires flexibility with both the blend as well as the technique as both vary with each vintage. Regardless of whether they make it into Maude's iconic Pinot, all the batches are treated with the exact same care. They are hand-picked, hand-plunged, fermented in open-topped tanks and matured in French oak barrels. However, not every bunch fits in, leaving us with some surplus yet superior parcels.
Black currant, bramble and dark cherries punctuated by plum, hints of forest floor and a touch of spice all wrapped up in a velvety smooth palate. Premium parcels of Pinot Noir grapes are handharvested from single vineyard sites across the rniconic Central Otago region of New Zealand. These 'Lone Parcels' are fermented in small batches in open topped tanks, hand plunged prior to pressing and maturation in 100 % French oak barriques. Blended to create a Pinot Noir, quintessentially Central Otago, succulent and savoury, playful and polished.
